MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A convenience store in North Memphis is being told not to sell certain food items after a rodent and pest problem was discovered.
This comes after Action News 5 received complaints from viewers about rats inside the Jackson Food Mart located at the corner of Jackson Avenue and North Hollywood Street.
An inspector with the Tennessee Department of Agriculture visited the convenience store Friday and issued an order to close a designated area for food.
Action News 5’s cameras were there as store employees threw away fresh and pre-packaged food items.
The owner says he’s working on getting pest control.
The store will remain open in the meantime and will continue to sell bottled drinks, beer, tobacco, and gasoline.
