Sydney is home to no shortage of quality cafes and acclaimed restaurants, from fine dining institutions to neighbourhood favourites that regularly attract long queues. But if you’re looking for a dining recommendation with celebrity backing, one inner-city spot has just received a glowing endorsement from one of the world’s biggest pop stars. Dua Lipa recently teamed up with Google Maps and her lifestyle platform Service95 to map out her ultimate travel itineraries, singling out her favourite places around the world, including a handful of essential stops across Australia. Among the places that made the cut was 10 William Street, a much-loved Italian restaurant tucked away in Paddington, known for its food, intimate atmosphere and extensive wine list, and if Dua Lipa’s recommendation is anything to go by, it’s well worth a visit.

In her review, Lipa described 10 William Street as one of those places that “just gets it right”, praising its Italian-influenced wine list, food and atmosphere. Operating out of a famously narrow, two-storey Paddington terrace, this local fixture is best known for its ever-changing menu of seasonal share plates, handmade pasta, seafood dishes and produce-driven specials.

Run by the seasoned hospitality family behind Fratelli Paradiso, the venue strikes a balance between a relaxed neighbourhood spot and a serious culinary destination. Wine is a major focus, with rotating by-the-glass options frequently written on the walls, reflecting the restaurant’s constantly evolving selection.

The restaurant first opened in 2010 and has remained a constant presence on Paddington’s dining scene ever since. Despite its relatively small footprint, it regularly attracts diners from across Sydney, particularly on weekends. It’s also been credited for helping popularise natural wine in Sydney, with its constantly changing list encouraging diners to try lesser-known producers and varieties, along with its late-night trading hours, making it perfect for post-work drinks and late evening meals.
