House knifes are dull as hell. No wonder he’s slow.

Illustrious_You_6210
Fire him and hire a younger guy. That fella’s obviously too old for the job.
Vondi
Maybe the fryer is a better fit
feverfaucet
I’m afraid you’ll have to fire him. 😞
BlueWolf90
He needs to go through Culinary Preschool first I think
ThatDiscoSongUHate
Hm, how’s his personal hygiene? If he’s diligent about hand washing, he can occasionally step out of the dishwashing pit
ghostofkozi
Have you tried emotional bullying?
MizZo2

Gotta equip him for success if you expect skills to improve!
MisterBaku
Young man needs sharper knives and a nicotine addiction

He needs a larger, sharper knife.
shiningonthesea

Knife skills of a toddler smdh
Shot_Squirrel8426
No damp towel under the cutting board is a rookie mistake lol. He has potential though, I’m sure he’ll brunoise with them best of them in no time.
mr_znaeb
Teach him how pinching your pointer finger and thumb locks the wrist for easier cuts and also explain the angle of the cut and how reduces surface area means less force to cut. In toddler terms of course. I got my 3yo a knife and taught her. At 9 she’s a knife using machine.
Kex_Luthor
Put the container on the knife side for ergonomics
rIceCream_King
Sharpen your damn knife, new guy!
Wiggie49
See him tomorrow chef and keep seeing him. I think he’s got potential.
th1sd3ka1ntfr33
I recommend loving him unconditionally
Ruh_Roh_Rah
have you looked into his diet/nutrition? looks like he’s not getting enough red bull or nicotine.

See you tomorrow chef

Trash all his prep until it’s perfect.

Obviously height-challenged. An appropriately-gauged surface is necessary. And get him some proper tools! Seriously, you are bordering on several OSHA violations! 🤣
GolfChefCoach
Put a wet paper towel under that board.
lotussmoke
You might be looking at a workers comp situation. That table is chest high, no one’s going to get their best cuts with no leverage.
Ok_Marionberry8779
Next he’s gonna be asking to hit your vape in the walk in

I don’t have any jokes that haven’t been made. Just wanted to say that from a childhood development perspective, this warms my heart! Fine motor skills, gaining confidence at a solo task, “helping” the family by contributing to the household, and spending time with a loving adult.
BrewsAndBurns
He’s probably just a bit hungover, send him outside for a smoke with a red bull and he’ll be back to top form.
guitartoad
Given his motor skills, I’m impressed. Give him a little time and he’ll fit right into the job. Side benefit: you can pay him with graham crackers, baby carrots, and hugs.

Might be time to send him to the dish pit.
