Located at the southern end of Broadway Plaza, Sala Mediterranean Grill features delicious proteins and housemade Middle Eastern sauces atop greens and grains, all within a contemporary fast-casual setting. Owner Simon Daoud is an industry veteran who delivers a menu of chef-curated harvest bowls while also allowing customers to build their own bowls, wraps, or pita pockets. The Mezze Market bowl has pieces of succulent chicken on saffron rice, surrounded by pickled red onions, cucumber-tomato salad, Kalamata olives, and feta-topped lettuce. The Falafel Souk rice bowl is less successful, with arugula, tabbouleh, and dry falafel. Most customers will likely craft their own creations, lured by the display of options behind the counter. Proteins are another plus: The lamb and beef are as flavorful as the chicken, while crispy chickpeas and roasted cauliflower are among the nonmeat choices. 1348 Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek, salagrill.com.
