A new cafe bar and tapas restaurant, with Japanese and Spanish influences, is set to open in a Nottinghamshire town this summer.

Kōnā is set to take over the former premises of the Sexy Mamma Love Spaghetti restaurant in West Bridgford.

Italian restaurant Sexy Mamma opened close to Central Avenue in September 2023, but has been closed for several months now.

Kōnā, on the corner of Tudor Square, will be operated by the owners of another of the town’s restaurants, Yumacha, in Central Avenue.

As well as tapas, breakfast will be served along with coffee, wines, draught beers and cocktails.

A regularly changing menu will feature five meat dishes, five plates focused on vegetables, and a further five with seafood.

Kōnā is due to open in mid-July. The name derives from the English word for ‘corner’ and is often used in aisles and stores to refer to a particular section.

Bookings will be taken, but around 40 per cent of tables will be saved for walk-in customers looking for drinks and food.

Kōnā is advertising jobs for bartenders, floor staff and a kitchen porter.
