Double celebration for popular village cafe known for Italian-style food

A popular village cafe is celebrating after its coffee was recognised as among the best in the country.
Prendi Cucina Italiana, in the centre of Marsden, near Huddersfield, was “highly recommended” in the Best Caffe section of the UK Italian Awards.
The award was picked up by Mark and Julie Bedford who opened the cafe in July 2024. The couple, who share a love of Italian cuisine and culture, have worked to create an authentic Italian food experience in the Pennine village.
Mark said: “To be recognised in the top five was a real honour. We will go again next year if we get the votes and hope to bring home the main award.”

Mark and Julie are also celebrating the cafe’s expansion, with the creation of an indoor seating area in a unit beside the existing cabin on Station Road.
The new unit has a handful of tables and chairs, with space for around ten diners.
Prendi Cucina Italiana is open five days, Wednesday to Sunday.
