More than 2,400 guests attended celebrations marking the 80th Anniversary of the Italian Republic, hosted by the Italian Embassy in Bangkok at Paragon Hall, Siam Paragon.
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul joined Italian Ambassador Paolo Dionisi, cabinet ministers, deputy ministers, members of the Privy Council, senior military officers, parliamentarians, business leaders and prominent figures from Thailand’s cultural and social circles at the event.
Guests were treated to a special performance by the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra, whose participation in the celebration was made possible through the support of Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul, a co-founder and patron of the orchestra since its inception. Khunying Patama brought the full orchestra to perform in support of the 80th Anniversary of the Italian Republic. The programme featured Italian classical and popular repertoire, as well as a selection of compositions by the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great in tribute to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother. The concert was conducted by Maestro Lorenzo Iosco.
Following the concert, guests enjoyed a wide range of Italian cuisine prepared by more than 40 Italian restaurants in Bangkok.
In his welcome remarks, Ambassador Dionisi highlighted the significance of the anniversary and reaffirmed the longstanding friendship between Italy and Thailand. He also noted the progress achieved in recent years in political, economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries.
The celebrations were complemented by an exhibition showcasing Italian excellence in Thailand, featuring achievements in automotive engineering, design, shipbuilding, cosmetics and fashion.
