I have a friend who really likes Cakes That Look Like Things, so for his birthday recently, I made him a breakfast cake, inspired by a cake by the incredible @charrajf; modelling chocolate croissants, chocolate fried eggs, buttercream bacon, buttercream blueberries.
The most fiddly bit was actually the blueberries; piping small dollops of dark indigo buttercream, freezing them to solid, snipping off the dollops’ peaks with a pair of tiny scissors, hollowing out a blueberry anus in each, and then dusting them in white food colour to get that mottled blueberry look..all while racing them back and forward to the freezer to keep them firm.
And the bit I was proudest of was when I showed my other friend a picture of the finished fried eggs and he said, “Wow, it’s cool you got the yolks so shiny!” and I was like, “The yolks are totally matte, I hand PAINTED those reflections on!” Hehehe.
Anyway, the cake itself is strawberry and sudachi cake, with milk crumbs, fresh strawberries and strawberry condensed milk buttercream.
Breakfast cake.

Clever
So clever! I love the base color of the cake and the ring of croissants on the bottom is too cute ☺️
