After over a decade of operation, the owners behind Kona Ice in Allentown have sold their food truck franchises.
Matt and Andrea Russell announced the sale online Sunday evening for their Kona Ice and Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee businesses, thanking family, friends, employees, customers, community partners and brand leadership.
“When we started Kona Ice of Allentown in 2013, we had no idea where the journey would lead. That single truck grew into three Kona Ice franchises and, in 2023, the launch of Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee — made possible by the support of so many amazing people,” the Russells said in the announcement.
Kona Ice launched its first trucks at the beginning of 2014.
The announcement said, “As we look ahead to our next chapter, we do so with full hearts and deep gratitude. We are pleased to be passing the businesses to Amber and Mike Kerschner, who have been part of the Kona Ice and Travelin’ Tom’s journey for many years. We know they care deeply about these brands and this community, and we hope you’ll continue to support them as they begin their next chapter.”
Among the over 30 well-wishes in the comments was Amber, who posted, “We are so glad to have this opportunity. We hope we can do as good of a job as you both did. We love this company and love giving back to the community.”
