Commemorative coin for Italian Cuisine, recognized by UNESCO

To mark the inscription of Italian Cuisine on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list, the Ministry of Economy together with the State Mint released a commemorative 5-euro silver coin.

Main features of the coin:

Material: 925‰ silver, proof finish with colored elements;
Face value: 5 euros; suggested sale price: €85;
Mintage: limited to a maximum of 3,000 pieces;
Designer: engraved by Silvia Petrassi; minted at the State Mint workshops.

The obverse depicts Italia Turrita holding the Tricolore, national symbols and unity. The reverse shows the official logo of the Italian Cuisine nomination and the date December 12, the day when official celebrations took place in Italy after the recognition.

The coin aims to celebrate a cultural and institutional path that recognizes culinary practice as a key element of national identity—rooted in tradition, creativity and collective memory. For collectors and those seeking a tangible memento of the UNESCO recognition, this issuance has both symbolic and artistic value.

Practical tips:

Check availability and purchase procedures through the State Mint or authorized channels;
Note the limited mintage if buying for a collection;
Store the coin properly to preserve the proof finish.
