CHARLESTON — If you’re looking for a cheap way to cool off, look no further than Ye Ole Fashioned.

The Sam Rittenberg Boulevard location is offering single scoops of ice cream for 99 cents all day on June 16.

Rolando Ravelo, co-owner of the location, told The Post and Courier the special is to celebrate that branch’s four-year anniversary. They’ve offered this deal since opening in 2022, he said.

“It’s just a big thank you for all the love and support of the franchise,” Ravelo said. “Not just us, but all eight locations … We’re really excited to just do something special for the community.”

Ye Ole Fashioned first opened in June 1972 in Charleston’s South Windermere Shopping Center. Rod Lapin, who opened the small frozen treat store, previously told The Post and Courier there were never plans to have multiple locations, but it grew organically.

By 1997, various family members had opened five more locations in North Charleston, Summerville, Mount Pleasant and Goose Creek — two of which were sold to outside buyers.

The most recent location in the Point Hope community opened to the public last month.
