  3. My favorite luxury hotels in Langkawi are:
    * The Datai Langkawi
    * Four Seasons Resort Langkawi
    * The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi
    * The St. Regis Langkawi

    There is also a new hotel in Langkawi: Hilton Burau Bay Langkawi Resort.

  4. Thanks for the great review. As far as I understand, this hotel is for a more secluded getaway. As for the downsides, I'll probably note the same as you did – large low tides, but a hotel of this level should have taken that into account (a huge minus). It also seems like there's not much difference between a villa and a suite, so I don't see the point in overpaying. The prices are certainly a bit high in the regular restaurant (where they dine). Overall, there wasn't a wow factor for that price, but then again, maybe that's just the specifics of this country.

  5. 10:36 it looks like there's some sort of barrier (artificial or otherwise) at the line of the last villa, maybe to reduce wave action, that instead silted up the little harbor and so now you've got all that muck growing rather than natural wave action. I'd be concerned with smell and bacteria in hotter weather. To be honest, the suite they let you rest in seemed nicer.
