A new Italian restaurant plans to replace a decades-old family pizzeria that closed last year.
La Piazza Italia is moving in to the Forks Towne Centers shopping center off Town Center Boulevard in Forks Township, according to an online announcement. No opening date has been set but it’s expected around August or September depending on remodel work and permits.
The restaurant will offer pizza, pasta, outdoor dining, catering and event space.
It will replace Salvatore’s Pizzeria & Restaurant, which operated in the space for nearly 50 years.
“We’ve heard so many wonderful things about Salvatore and his family and the positive impact they had on the community,” La Piazza Italia’s owners said. “Unfortunately, due to family responsibilities and the demands of running a restaurant, they made the difficult decision to close. We have a great deal of respect for what they built, and we hope to honor that legacy while creating wonderful new memories for everyone who walks through our doors.”
