In Greenport, Claudio’s Restaurant is now home to Amalfi at Claudio’s, an Italian coastal venue at the marina.
The dining spot, which opens Thursday, is the North Fork sister restaurant to Amalfi in Hampton Bays.
“With Amalfi at Claudio’s, we wanted to create the feeling of escaping to the Italian coast without leaving the North Fork,” Salvatore Biundo, the restaurant’s owner, told LIBN.
“Guests can expect fresh Italian flavors, beautifully prepared seafood and pastas, warm hospitality, and a relaxed waterfront atmosphere that invites you to slow down and enjoy the experience,” Biundo said. “Whether you’re joining us for a sunset dinner, a family celebration, or a casual meal by the harbor, Amalfi at Claudio’s is designed to transport you while honoring the history and spirit of Claudio’s.”
Claudio’s has deep ties in Greenport. The restaurant first opened in 1870 by Manuel Claudio, who had arrived years earlier by a Portuguese whaling ship, according to published reports. Over the years, the campus has hosted a main restaurant with smaller venues as well and was sold in 2018. Now, along with Amalfi’s at Claudio’s, the complex features Claudio’s Waterfront, Saylor Beach House, Le Shack Beach boutique and Peter’s Pizza.
The Amalfi menu features dishes for the table, including “Nonna’s Meatballs” and “Amalfi Chips,” as well as a raw bar, appetizers, salads, pastas and entrees that offer options for meat lovers, pescatarians and vegetarians alike. Cocktail and mocktail offerings feature summer ingredients, including watermelon, raspberry, peach and more.
Beyond attracting first-time visitors, the restaurant is equally focused on creating reasons for guests to return again and again.
“We’re also creating an experience that gives guests a reason to return all week long, with daily happy hour, weekday prix fixe specials, live music and entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights, and relaxed Sunday sunset sessions by the water,” Biundo said.
