4-course Salon Menu. Overall an extremely mid experience. Practically everything was under-seasoned, lacked flavor, the lobster was overcooked, etc. The signature Oysters and Pearls almost certainly was my favorite dish, however several other caviar dishes I’ve had are far better IMO. I think the most disappointing thing was the assortment of desserts, which were absolutely quantity over quality. Service was fine, but a bit awkward, and certainly nothing compared to what I’ve experienced at other multi-starred restaurants.
For $185 (tip included) for the Salon Menu, I suppose you could say it’s “great value,” but given that not a single bite was truly exceptional, I simply can’t give Per Se any stars, since I certainly wouldn’t recommend going to Per Se for a solid, very tasty meal.

This looks like a Michelin parody
the first food foto is definitely a penis.
First pic looks like a dildo lol
Your ratings are harsh, wow. The only meal you’ve ever had that was worth more than a 1-2 hour detour was poul bocuse.
I’m a little do confused though, 0* means food wasn’t bad?
That place has been coasting since Benno left
Michelin wiener is wild
Totally agree with you – super disappointing!
It honestly was too much food that was just alright. I think they should focus on less dishes and more quality. Oysters and Pearls is the standout, but also the pastry chef is great.
Per Se coasting on reputation is the same thing that happens to landmark productions that stop rehearsing. The name only carries you so far.
Another Per Se review is exactly what the world needed.
The cheaper menus at 3* in the us are so different than the cheaper menus in France
For 185 you could go to mirazur for lunch and the food is amazing
Strangely similar to my French laundry visit Saturday. A lot of similar dishes and the lobster at TFL is extremely chewy.
I think you got unlucky. Per Se is pretty damn incredible. One of my favorite / the best restaurants in the city. Never had a bad meal there. What is a more unique dish than oysters and pearl? The salmon cornet is great. The lobster, Wagyu, etc. If you felt the lobster was overcooked, why not tell them? The dessert is spectacular. The truffle chocolates at the end in a variety of flavors?!
This post reads as clickbait but sorry to hear you had a bad experience in one of NYC’s finest.
I’ve been to Per Se several times. I agree that some meals there have been better than others, but overall still one of the best restaurants in NYC. Zero stars is unreasonable.
Just out of curiosity. How do you believe/know the lobster was overcooked? By photo alone it looks plump and bright. And I find customers often have no idea about temps when it comes to seafood, but especially shellfish. It’s frequently an easy complaint to just say “overcooked” or “undercooked”, and while restaurants can certainly make mistakes, the chance that any restaurant above 1 star is letting miscooked food leave their kitchen is extremely unlikely.
20 years old thats been all over the US and Europe to a total of 30 starred restaurants? Adding the rewievs, smells like a troll account.
We’re one step from the head chef going off on the OP. “It’s molten!!! You pos it’s molten…”
*Looks at second picture* it looks like you selected the “Foodscapes of Mordor” tasting menu- no wonder everything was subpar.
Sounds like you don’t enjoy dining out at all
Great pictures at least lol
ya, Mid basically describes all Thomas Keller anymore, I can’t believe that masa lost a star but not per se
