LINDEN – III Amici Ristorante, a longtime Italian restaurant and catering venue on West Elizabeth Avenue, will close Aug. 2 after 36 years in business.
The landmark restaurant has served generations of families celebrating milestones, gathering for Sunday dinners and marking special occasions.
“It is with both heavy hearts and immense gratitude that we announce the closing of III Amici Ristorante after 36 years of serving this incredible community and all the surrounding areas,” the restaurant said in a Facebook post.
The closure also marks the retirement of owner Giovanni Lavorato, who became known for his authentic Italian cooking and welcoming hospitality.

“Whether he was greeting guests at the door, sharing stories and singing to his patrons in the dining room or preparing cherished family recipes in the kitchen, Giovanni made everyone feel welcome and treated every guest like family,” the post said.
“His passion, dedication and commitment to hospitality created the warm and inviting atmosphere that made III Amici so special. The friendships he formed and the lives he touched extend far beyond the walls of the restaurant and will remain part of his legacy for years to come.”

The post said Lavorato’s retirement closes an important chapter for a restaurant that became a fixture in Linden and surrounding communities.
The message, signed by Giovanni Lavorato, Dante, Teresa and the III Amici staff, thanked customers for their loyalty and support over the years, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, and recognized employees whose dedication helped make the restaurant a destination for generations of diners.
