Olive oil as a cultural and tourism asset: Imola at the national convention
Imola participated in the inaugural convention of the National Association Cities of Oil, held in Corigliano-Rossano (Cosenza). The three-day event brought together local officials, researchers, businesses and sector operators to discuss the future of Italian olive-growing.
Key discussion topics included landscape protection, biodiversity, job quality and the growth of oleotourism. The event concluded with the signing of the “Carta di Calabria”, a document outlining shared strategic guidelines to support olive-producing territories.

According to Agriculture Councillor Pierangelo Raffini, who represented the Municipality of Imola, investing in olive trees means investing in local development, quality of life and the potential to attract cultural tourism linked to the territory. Imola has been a member of the National Association Cities of Oil since 2024; the network now includes more than 560 entities, such as municipalities, provinces, chambers of commerce and parks.
The convention laid the groundwork for projects that combine agriculture, tourism, culture, sustainability and innovation, aiming to make the olive-oil sector a driver of territorial development.
