Festival combines local talent, wine, and community at Mackinaw Valley Vineyard - Dining and Cooking

MACKINAW (25News Now) -Creativity was on full display at Mackinaw Valley Vineyard Sunday during the annual Get Art! Get Lit! Get Wine! Festival

This marks around the 16th year Mackinaw Valley Vineyard and Winery hosted this annual art festival. In recent years, the event has expanded to include local authors throughout Central Illinois. Mackinaw Valley Vineyard and Winery owner Diane Hahn said this new twist shows that literature is another form of art.

Artists and writers from Peoria, Bloomington-Normal, Peoria, Washington, and surrounding communities filled the vineyard with their work.

About 25 vendors showcased everything from paintings and jewelry to ceramics, glass art, woodwork, and books. Lora Tipsword, from Decatur, Decatur, creates kiln-fired glass jewelry, stained glass, and mosaics through ClassyglassbyLora.

She travels through Central Illinois sharing her artwork and said the scenic setting keeps bringing her back.

“It’s about my third or fourth time. I really love it here, it’s really pretty here and she always make sures everyone has a good location. The venue is pretty and always has nice lighting,” she said.

Hahn said attractions like this give visitors more reasons to spend the day at the vineyard.

“We’re surrounded by people who live in this area. We have some people who live in cities. It’s nice to get a country kind of place where you can get away. Hang with friends get a glass of wine. Listen to some music, kind of let your cares away. And just have some fun,” she said.

In addition to local artists and authors, visitors could explore a classic car show while enjoying live music, food, and wine.
