Do you have a sweet tooth? Are the kids screaming for ice cream? Is a birthday coming up and you need to bake a cake? Did you promise to make a pie for a picnic? Is your cookie jar getting empty? Does the Brownie troop want brownies? Need to make muffins for a bake sale? Are you pining for a pudding? Are you tempted by a tort? Are you parched and need some punch? Are your clothes too baggy? Well, if so, these recipes can solve all your problems, and many more, and might even give you a few new problems.
This cookbook has 386 pages, including the covers. It is quite large, not only in number of pages, but in page size. And they used small type, so there are quite a few recipes on each page. On the cover it states “2000 Favorite Recipes from Grange Members”. There are 17 recipes for apple cakes, 9 for carrot cakes, too many fruit cakes to count, 11 orange cakes, 6 prune cakes , and many, many, many more. There is a grand total of 49 pages just for cakes, and 11 pages devoted to frostings, fillings, and toppings. 9 pages of beverages. 19 pages for candies. 67 pages for cookies, bars, squares, and brownies. 17 pages for meringues, tortes, and cheesecakes. 45 pages for pies and pastries. 24 pages for puddings and custards. 17 pages for fruit desserts. 12 pages of frozen desserts. 33 pages of refrigerator desserts. 25 pages of sweet breads. 9 pages for foreign desserts.
If you need something sweet, it’s probably in here. Even if you don’t NEED it, it’s still probably in here!
This was published in 1967, the same year the Grange celebrated its centennial.
Most recipes have the name of the person that contributed it, along with their grange, city and state. So if you had a relative that was a granger, their recipes could be in this book. Some of the recipes have a little X marked next to them, probably to make it easier for the previous owner to find that recipe again. One of them has “good” written next to it, although they did make a few changes in pencil to some of the ingredients (none have a “NO” written on them!). I think I put on five pounds just looking through this book to write this description.

These are some delish recipes. Indeed I did not know that i needed this. The fairy pie? The coconut-oatmeal cookies? And the pink apple pie with vanilla icecream jello? That is all so interesting!
Baking ammonia??
The Peachy Treat has my vote for sheer simplicity
Wonderful cookbook-thanks for posting!
