Marks & Spencer is continually levelling-up its food range, and with summer on the horizon, the retailer has unveiled a selection of picnic essentials that are proving difficult to ignore.
Picnic season is a much-loved British tradition. Few things beat heading to a quiet patch of grass with friends, popping open a bottle of prosecco and tucking into some delicious nibbles in the sunshine. Slathered in sun cream and catching up over tasty food, it’s hard not to feel good — and M&S is confident its picnic range is second to none.
Since news broke of what the retailer has in store this season, shoppers have been buzzing with excitement and eager to get their hands on the new products. Marks & Spencer has described its pastry selection as “next level”, thanks to its latest launches.
“From a super-sized sausage roll, to our new Pocket Pies, perfectly portable lunch or snacks – both handcrafted with our golden all-butter puff pastry,” the company wrote. It continued: “A sausage roll made for six? Sounds like a 2026 picnic spread is non-negotiable to us!”
“Our new Ultimate Sharing Sausage Roll is made with perfectly seasoned outdoor-bred British pork and smoked bacon, wrapped in our handcrafted all-butter puff pastry. Enjoy hot or cold… just don’t forget to take a knife for slicing!”

The pocket pies are suitable for serving hot or cold and are available in a variety of tempting flavours. The retailer is also offering chicken fajitas made with British chicken, roasted red peppers, and fajita spices.
Alternatively, for those who fancy something barbecue-flavoured, there’s a barbecue pork option featuring British pork and smoked bacon in a sweet and smoky sauce.
Prefer something more straightforward? The margarita pizza, with roasted tomatoes and mozzarella in a herby tomato sauce, might be just the ticket. For those drawn to Greek-inspired flavours, the Spanakopita, combining spinach and feta, cream cheese, and lemon zest, is well worth a try.
All of these products are currently available at your nearest M&S food hall, as well as on Ocado for those who prefer online shopping.
In the comments, one shopper wrote: “Just got my hands on them, can’t wait to try them.” A second penned: “Oooh.” A third simply left a drooling emoji, suggesting they were taken with everything M&S had on offer.
Not everybody was won over, however, with one customer calling for “more vegan things” from the retailer. Another claimed: “The inside of the pocket pie in the photo looks nothing like reality.”
There was further excitement to be had, as M&S also shared another Instagram post, stating: “Our meatiest ever pork pie has arrived. Handcrafted by expert pie makers with selected cuts of outdoor-bred British pork shoulder and diced silverside, our Best Ever Melton Mowbray Pork Pie is encased in mouthwateringly rich roasted pork stock jelly.
“The finishing touch? It’s all wrapped in thick hot water crust pastry, glazed with egg and handcrimped to perfection. Who are you sharing with?”
