I started plant based with a portfolio diet due to high LDL, and it lowered it more than my statin did. I was a long time sufferer of severe IBS, GERD, and gastritis.

I tried many different things for my digestive issues, and this diet helped me a ton! Basically, I wasn’t eating enough fiber and was (unknowingly) consuming too much saturated fat.

This diet corrected the imbalance, along with psyllium husk supplementation, iodized salt, and a multivitamin with EPA and DHA so I’m not missing any nutrients. I also exercise (cardio from sports and weightlifting 2x a week on average) I feel great!

So many misconceptions.. this diet is CHEAPER than meat, I’m healthier now, and my CBC is really good!

I am going to post some pics of my fave meals so far, and I am hoping to learn new recipes! Thank you community.

Pic 1: beyond steak tips, barely/lentil bag, vegan tzatziki, and tomato cucumber salad with parsley
Pic 2: toasted high fiber tortilla chips, vegan tzatziki, TVP meatballs (TVP, lemon, garlic, salt, pepper, all purpose, and flour to a “meatball” consistency) then grilled on stove top
Pic 3: 1 can black beans, 1 can pinto, 1 can kidney, cucumber, tomato, onion, and dressing of choice. Let marinate until desisted taste (dense bean salad)
Pic 4: TVP in taco seasoning, tortilla chips, cilantro, seasoned beans, pico

LDL dropping more than a statin without meds is the real flex here. Dense bean salad looks like perfect meal prep too, going to try that one.

Congrats, great results and the meals look awesome! Make sure you’re also supplementing vitamins B12 and D, and getting plenty of calcium-rich beans, greens (esp collards) and tofu.

I bet you also feel way more awesome day to day too

Got rid of GERD with a plant-based diet. The only time it comes back is if I don’t eat plant-based.

My resting heart rate has dropped to 59, and my nails are healthy and hard!

Portfolio Diet is incredible. My LDL dropped by half. Way to go OP! Off to prep my overnight oats with soy milk/bev.

I immediately smiled at the first statement. Of course it was going to lower your Low Density Lipoproteins more than statins, a statin is a dangerous band-aid without solving the problem…a high animal fat diet. You solved the problem and you are blown away that it worked, because you have been manipulated to not see the problem, its not really there, it doesn’t exist, which is, garbage in/garbage out, you are what you eat, what you put in your body absolutely affects your health. I am blown away by the amount of people here in America that still do not understand that.

You were not eating enough fiber, right, fiber is what scrapes the bad cholesterol away. Also, remember that your liver also can produce enough cholesterol to kill you, add to that stress and it will finish the job, but if you integrate cayenne pepper to your meals or eat any kind of hot chili pepper, you are inhibiting your liver from producing so much cholesterol.

The diet corrected the imbalance, because your previous diet WAS the imbalance!

Don’t forget to supplement for that free radical damage that is created when you exercise, but definitely keep exercising as the exercise also lowers cholesterol long term. I am so excited for you I would love to go power walking with you or cycling just to show my support.

Those misconceptions are on purpose. The meat industry needs to keep making a profit at the cost of good public health.

I am so happy for you and if you have loved ones in your life that depend on you, to whom you are a light in their life, they are also appreciative of what you have done. I am appreciative and I do not even know you 🙂

I cannot wait to see your pics. This was definitely a win for humanity and I think with this I am going to head to bed.

I had the same outcomes from this diet along with more energy and its insanely much cheaper as you mentioned!

I was wondering if someone’s gonna mention LDL increased by Meat Diet is large buyoant LDL which is cardiovascular neutral, it is the small dense LDL that needs to go down which is raised by high carb diet and statins don’t help with it – As explained by Dr Robert Lustig..
    How true is this?

That’s fantastic, OP! As someone with IBS and some GERD-like activity, I’m really interested in how the transition to plant-based was on your stomach? I’m really worried it would make my guts worse.

Really nice looking meals. I too have dropped my LDL from 126 to 79 with the Portfolio Diet. It’s a keeper!
