INO Armor has developed a patented protective packaging material made from natural silk cocoons. The material is lightweight, naturally insulated, reusable and fully home-compostable.
The brand offers fully customizable protective bags and packaging as an alternative to traditional foam, plastic and bubble wrap, allowing for “exceptional protection” while delivering the premium presentation expected by luxury brands.
Currently, INO Armor is working with wine and spirits brands like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Teremana Tequila and Matthew McConaughey’sPantalones organic Tequila to develop branded bottle carriers and protective packaging solutions. For example, consumers can purchase a bottle and carry it straight through the airport in a protective, branded bag — reducing packaging while creating a more premium customer experience, the brand says.
INO Armor developed a protective mailer for Pantalones, allowing for bottles to be shipped directly without the need for traditional bubble wrap mailers and creating a more sustainable, elevated unboxing experience.
The solution is made from natural silk cocoons, craft paper and bioplastic, which effectively absorbs both high and low velocity impacts. It absorbs seven times more force than traditional bubble wrap, according to INO Armor. A single half-inch tall silk cocoon takes more than 35 pounds to crush, the brand adds. The protective packaging is available as a bag or a wrap for shipment. It conforms to any bottle geometry and enables minimalist packing methods to reduce weight and volume of boxes and bags.
The brand is now expanding into vineyards and wineries for direct-to-consumer (DTC) shipments, wine club memberships, corporate gifting and premium retail packaging. Aside from wine and spirits, INO Armor has partnered with beauty, fragrance and luxury home brands.
