Pizza Pilgrims has unveiled a brand-new limited-edition pizza celebrating Italy’s famous Yellow Piennolo tomato harvest, available across the UK from 27 July until 30 August 2026.
Fans of authentic Neapolitan pizza have a new seasonal special to enjoy this summer as Pizza Pilgrims launches its ‘It’s Yellow Piennolo Tomato Season!’ pizza, inspired by one of Italy’s most cherished summer harvests.
Available for a limited time at Pizza Pilgrims restaurants nationwide, the new creation showcases Yellow Piennolo di Vesuvio tomatoes, grown on the volcanic slopes surrounding Mount Vesuvius. Instead of the traditional red tomato base, the pizza features a vibrant golden-yellow sauce that highlights the tomatoes’ naturally sweet flavour and distinctive colour.
The seasonal pizza is topped with spicy Italian sausage, smoked provola mozzarella, roasted red onions, fresh basil and olive oil, creating a fresh take on classic Neapolitan flavours while celebrating the quality of seasonal Italian produce.
A Taste of Naples in the UK
Yellow Piennolo tomatoes are harvested at their peak during the Italian summer and are considered one of the highlights of the Neapolitan food calendar. Pizza Pilgrims has worked closely with long-time producer Aniello, whose family has cultivated the tomatoes for generations on the fertile volcanic soil around Mount Vesuvius.
The unique growing conditions give the tomatoes their signature sweetness, making them a prized ingredient in southern Italian cuisine.
By putting the tomatoes at the heart of its latest special, Pizza Pilgrims aims to bring an authentic slice of Naples to diners across the UK while celebrating the farmers and traditions behind the produce.

“It’s Yellow Piennolo season in Napoli! Around Mount Vesuvius, our yellow Piennolo tomatoes are harvested at the height of summer, right when they’re at their sweetest. We know it’s our tomato farmer Aniello’s favourite time of year, so we designed this pizza with him in mind – sweet and delicate from the tomatoes, but with a real punch from the roasted sausage and smoked provola. Just like Aniello. It’s available all month across all our pizzerias, so come get involved in Yellow Piennolo season – and raise a spritz for Aniello, who’s probably out in the fields as we speak.”
