Jared Gadbaw of Oak & Reel and Cory Barberio of San Morello will open Angelo’s Fine Italian this fall at 16844 Kercheval in Grosse Pointe. The restaurant takes over what used to be City Kitchen.
“We want people to walk in and immediately feel at home,” said Barberio in a press release, per The Detroit News. “Great restaurants have always been about bringing people together around a table. That’s what we’re aiming for at Angelo’s — a place where friends gather and families connect over food that feels both familiar and delicious.”
Both chefs have worked at top Italian spots in Detroit and New York City. Gadbaw ran Marea in NYC, which earned two Michelin stars.
Grosse Pointe “has a character all its own,” Gadbaw said in the announcement. “There’s a real sense of community here,” he said. “We saw an opportunity to create something that adds to that fabric — where people can come as they are, share a great meal, see familiar faces, and make memories with the people they care about.”
Angelo’s will showcase what these chefs learned throughout years of cooking and time spent mastering Italian cuisine. More information will be available at angelosfineitalian.com as the opening date approaches.
