This plant only gets morning sun. Its been in the same spot for months. Thats a 10 gallon grow bag. The wood pieces are to block cats from digging. Leaves would droop when it was over 90 degrees but would recover when the sun wasnt on it. Its been 100 everyday for weeks. I watered everyday. Now the leaves have been like this for days. No more recovering. I dont care about this plant anymore. Shade your plants if it gets over 90 degrees.

How much were you watering it daily? Chilis can need a lot of water daily in the summer.

I live in hot climate where it’s consistently over 100 for at least two months. I water 3-4 times a week. They can do it they just need to be established before the extreme temps hit. The only problem I’ve ever had is flowers dropping. They droop like this but it’s not a big deal. Give it a chance to bounce back as cools down
I started using shade cloth to block out the sun from around 12-4 because even my ghosts were a bit droopy when the temps hit around 90°-100°, that and it’s been scorching/beaming hot, I’m also on a mountain though. So we’re a little closer to the sun. They seem to do better when that shade cloth goes up. Also a little misting when it’s super hot out, dowse the leaves with mist from the hose and it has helped them prop right back up
I think it can recover from this condition. It will drop leaves and flowers but new leaves will come back. Keep up with proper watering.
Gave you checked for root rot or root parasites?
You’re correct that they should get afternoon shade on hot days, but 100 with only morning sun shouldn’t require extra shade. Mine go through lots of 100 degree days each year and I don’t shade ones that aren’t getting direct, afternoon sun. Something else is going on that you need to look into
Buddy… it’s 100+ frequently here and my Jalapeño plants are thriving. Your plant wasn’t getting enough of what it needs.
I would water those. They will like bounce back. It’s been 100 and windy here the last couple days and my peppers missed a watering and looked like that when I got home Sunday. Watered them and this morning they were normal.

I have over 30 pepper plants both sweet and hot. Some in ground, some raised bed, and some in pots. The only shade they get is when the sun does not shine. But they do get water when needed.
That mulch looks a bit chunky
My jalapeños tend to wilt under hot days but a little water they pop right back my plants in general are also a darker rich green and throw fruit like crazy some say letting them wilt makes them hotter and I can say for a jalapeño there hot 🔥 😆
Once it gets over 100 you need to make sure you deep water at least every 2 days, sometimes every day. I’ve had weeks straight of over 100 and my peppers have been fine if I do that, albeit a little droopy (they perk up pretty quick out of direct sun though)
That wood you have in the pot is probably throwing off p.h and adding unwanted nitrates ect.what was the reason for that 😆its not an oak tree those tannings from the wood could and probably are a main issue
I mean, that plant is still alive. I’ve never really stopped caring about a plant, but the struggling ones I do put in an area that is shady most of the day. I’ve only gotten rid of a few that were taken over by aphids.

I don’t think it’s dead. Peppers go drought dormant like many dry zone plants. It should recover

Logs in there block the watering from reaching center of the plant, you’re killing your plant with thirst because the water rolls off to the edges and the roots aren’t quite developed enough to reach the edge.
Take the logs out and then take a chopstick and push holes down full length within a 6″ diameter of the stem then water. It’ll come back to life
Full sun, does not, in fact, mean full sun for anywhere that breaks 90f for more than one month a year.
We all learn this the hard way.

My ghost checking in from phx. Its like 115° here and I have shade cloth over it and water every day. Should explode with peppers this fall. Way too hot to set fruit now. Its in grow mode though.

Funny part of your description is “I don’t care about this plant anymore “ which is probably the best thing for it . It might bounce back if you don’t look at or do anything to it for 10 days .
nah this is user error my peppers do fine in crazy heat after they got used to it a couple times
I don’t know. I live in the desert and it’s been over 100 for weeks now here and my peppers are still doing alright. Keep them under shade and stick to a watering schedule. Plants want consistency.
My greenhouse has gotten over 100 degrees for weeks and all my peppers are quite happy. Full South facing, no shade, sunshine all day and roasting heat. I give them good soil, amendments and water when they need it. Sorry it didn’t do well in the heat.

It needs to be watered multiple times per day probably in that heat. Also it still looks like it could survive, give it more water. Lots of it, you aren’t going to over water it.
My habaneros are exploding with peppers right now, and ghosts doing well finally. The scorpions and reapers are a little slower, not as many peppers, but plant still looks fine.
In my garden we are turning on our drip system like 4 times a day turning our 100+ heat to keep the soil from drying out.
it’s prob water logged? put it in the shade it might recover.
Sounds like you didn’t take good care of your plant.
Soak the roots.
My peppers do fine in full sun and 100⁰+ temps, as long as they get watered regularly
Ditch the logs & fill that gap with soil/compost.
The slowly decomposing logs are stealing nitrogen from the soil & preventing normal respiration.
You’re likely over-watering to compensate for the logs which are preventing the growing medium from properly “breathing”
If cats are that much of an issue, try some upside down plastic forks or a water permeable layer of small rock/gravel on top.
In my experience, pepper plants like a wet/dry cycle. Those logs are keeping your soil mucky, peppers don’t like constant wet feet.
Man, all my peppers just lived through 105-107 all week.
Yeah, I’m in Texas…the 100* doesn’t bother them, it’s the 11-12 UV Index every day. I moved most mine to east side of House so they get Morning-Mid Day sun…rest are under a huge Mesquite Tree where they get filtered sunlight all day.

there’s your problem.. the boiling point for water is 100 degrees there’s no way any plant would survive that heat.
You cant treat bagged plants the same as normally planted plants. Moisture wicks up from deep in the ground to replace moisture that evaporates at the top. That doesnt happen when you have it in a pot or plant. You have to water it more frequently. Where i live, we get less than 10 days of 100 degrees, my dad who lives at a lower elevation gets a lot more than that. His peppers are always out producing mine. Peppers thrive in hot climates, they just need to be watered enough.
