A glass jar on a table with creamy tiramisu inside, and a brown chocolate topping

Anyone who has been out for dinner with me knows nothing lures me into ordering dessert faster than spotting tiramisu on the menu. If you’re anything like me, you’ll love what I’m about to tell you next.

London has its fair share of weird and wonderful desserts to choose from, but what makes this particular new opening special is that it’s a cafe exclusively serving the Italian dessert.

The cafe will be called Marrone, which translates to ‘brown’ in Italian (we’re presuming as a homage to the colour of the popular dessert), and the man behind it all is Giancarlo, who has been documenting his journey on social media.

“Pretty Good Tiramisu”

The cafe opens on 15 August and will be located on 15 Sherwood Street in Soho, pretty close to Piccadilly Circus. The spot is perfect for those wanting a sweet treat after dinner in Soho, as it’s a nice strolling distance from many of our favourite eateries in the city.

Marrone’s tagline “Pretty Good Tiramisu” comes from the founder’s search for a truly great tiramisu. In one of his Instagram captions, Giancarlo shares, “Why don’t I know where to guarantee a great tiramisu. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s amazing and sometimes it’s average.” His new venture seeks to solve this problem.

To start they’ll be serving up three flavours of tiramisu, including: original, dark chocolate and sea salt and DOP pistachio. There will also be non-alcoholic versions of the dessert available for those sober dessert lovers.

A fun detail to look out for is the 1972 Piaggio Ape, a traditional three-wheeled vehicle created by the same people who made the quintessentially Italian Vespa, that’ll be parked outside.

The original plan was to have the van popping up across London, serving tiramisu, of course, but we’ll have to wait a little longer to see that come to fruition. Until then get yourself down to Marrone from next week.
