Foodshed Forum Fairfield County announces Localizing Food in Connecticut: How We Grow, Share, and Sustain Local Agriculture, a panel discussion taking place on Wednesday, Sept 2, 2026 from 6:30pm – 8:00pm at North Greenwich Congregational Church.

Localizing Food in Connecticut explores how to build a resilient local food system in Connecticut through coordinated partnerships, strategic policy guidance, and collaborative action. By highlighting the vital role that small and medium-sized diversified farms play in long-term food security, the discussion will address actionable strategies for expanding equitable access to sustainably grown food for all communities.
Crucially, this effort relies on dynamic partnerships – from schools, restaurants, and anchor institutions driving demand for regional produce to individual consumers supporting local markets in their daily choices. Together, these interconnected allies, alongside sound policy and targeted foundation investments, demonstrate how steady, manageable steps lead to a healthier, more resilient agricultural ecosystem for society as a whole.
Opening remarks will be delivered by Bryan Hurlburt, Connecticut’s Commissioner of Agriculture, followed by a panel discussion moderated by Ali Ghiorse, Executive Director of The Foodshed Network.
