I’ve never seen fried plantains with a batter/coating. Is your battery sweet or savory?
I’m Dominican and those DO NOT look like fried plantains 🤣

This is interesting. You can just fry ripe plantains in a neutral tasting oil for a sweet treat or a side dish to go with a meal. If you want something more doughy you can look up a recipe for banana fritters and substitute the ripe bananas for ripe plantains.
did you happen to fry them in coconut oil? it looks like theres a coating on it. i love them super ripe and sweet too 🇯🇲
