Canstar has revealed which supermarket olive oil is the best in Australia.
The consumer group told Yahoo Lifestyle it surveyed more than 2,300 Australians about their shopping habits, with 16 per cent always purchasing the cheapest bottle available and 23 per cent buying the same brand every time.
The survey revealed Squeaky Gate as the number one product, marking the third time the brand has taken home Canstar gold.

The company sells three types of extra-virgin olive oil: The Allrounder, The Mild One, and The Strong One.
Coles and Woolworths only sell the Allrounder for $20 for a 750mL bottle.
The brand told Yahoo Lifestyle it was “thrilled” to have been recognised with a Canstar Most Satisfied Customers Award in 2026, as well as in 2021 and 2023.
“As an Australian-owned brand, we’re proud to work closely with Australian farmers to bring quality olive oil to consumers across the country,” a spokesperson said.

The olive oil was assessed across categories such as quality, taste, value for money, and packaging, with Squeaky Gate scoring five stars in all categories, except for packaging, where it scored four stars.

How did the other olive oils do?
There were 13 olive oils on the list, with Red Island and Aldi’s Remano rounding out the top three.
The list also had big-name brands such as Cobram Estate and Bertolli, which came in fourth and fifth, respectively, and Moro, which landed the eighth spot.
While Aldi had a top-three olive oil, the other supermarkets didn’t fare as well.
Woolworths and Coles’ own-brand olive oil both scored just three stars for customer satisfaction. Woolworths came in at 11th, while Coles was last.

Eden Radford, a consumer expert at Canstar, said shoppers take varied approaches at the checkout when it came to olive oil.
“For some shoppers, the priority is on savings – over half say they’ll usually buy olive oil when it is on special.
“Whether it’s choosing a specific olive oil for a particular dish or simply picking up a trusted favourite, our insights also show Australians select their olive oil to reflect both their practical cooking habits and household budgets.
“Just under a quarter of shoppers remain loyal to a single brand, while 16 per cent will choose different types of olive oil depending on what they’re cooking – and 15 per cent say they keep an eagle eye on the nutritional information.”
