I work in a restaurant and the sous chef got a wrong order in. Any ideas what dishes can we add this on? It just tastes different from the real thing. We were thinking maybe we can add it on soups. Any suggestions?

I LOVE to add dehydrated onion to some crispy fried latkas 😋
You can also add them to bread dough, they’re good in focaccia or even naan

Well, regarding the sub name, every dish.

All of them. All ideas and any you can think of is possible.

Wait we’re not supposed to just stick a spoon in it for evening snacks?

Rehydrate them and you have instant McDonald’s onions. Use accordingly

milk + this = cereal

The can go in a pasta sauce or anything that’s got some moisture content to it. It’s probably too slow for a restaurant but rehydrating these and putting them on a sandwich is fantastic

We use those for a dip. Dehydrated onions, sour cream, little mayo, shredded mozzarella and dehydrated parsley. Let it set a day, and enjoy with chips, veg and whatever floats your boat

These are handy to make a mayo based salad or dressing thicker. They soak up liquid and have a very mild flavor.

so many things bc they are mild tasting and super versatile:
mixed into breadcrumbs and used for coating proteins, put into soups, rehydrated and used like fresh, in dressings & marinades, in baked goods like breads & biscuits, in mashed potatoes, etc

I mean… It’s easier for me to list out recipes they aren’t useful for

I use that when prepping my meatloaf recipe for freezing. After thawed the oinion bits are soft.
Do you make any breaded fried items? They can be swapped out for your crumb mix
blueribbonspy
I add them to my meatloaf mix
smokeytrue01
Work that into some good grain finished beef burgers before grilling, that would be heaven

I use these to make a salt-free onion soup mix. Then you can use onion soup mix on anything you can come up with.
The gist of it: dehydrated onions, onion powder, garlic powder, beef bullion, chives, dill/thyme, pepper, paprika.
Places to use it you might not have come up with: anything potato but especially hashbrowns, flatbread topping (with fresh herbs), compound butter, dip, with dehydrated mushrooms to start off a mushroom gravy.

If you’re cooking, put it in.

Absolutely nothing. It’s worthless…
Tell them you’ll bring it home for proper disposal.

Dips and things of that nature, I have a buddy that puts them in his baked beans. Pretty stellar beans tbh
Rehydrate. Sautee. French onion soup.
Soak them in water over night and, hey presto, you have McDonalds style diced onions whenever you like.
You would get a shorter list if you asked what dishes this cant be used for
CHOPPED FRENCH ONION SOUP IN BUUUUULLLKKKK

This is like accidentally getting a jug of water and asking if it will quench your thirst.
french onion soup?
When I’m making ground beef for tacos or nacho dip I add a bunch of these to help soak up the fat before adding the taco seasoning.
