Your enjoyment of this flavor is going to be dependent on your patience for the off putting lemon flavor. It’s weird because they included actual lemon. Which should be enough… but they also include “Natural Lemon Flavor” which makes the fish taste of Lemon Pledge. I enjoy King Oscar usually. I found this to be an awful eating experience.

  2. This is one of my favorite tins out there 🤣

I’m with ya. Season makes a much better lemon tin

  4. Dang, I love to dump a can over a salad or pasta

I have yet to find a mackerel I enjoy. I’ve tried about six now and I think that fish just isn’t for me.

Tried their salmon in olive oil and lemon, 0/5 as well. Like eating lemon in meat form

  7. I find adding lemon to a fish (especially inside the tin) does nothing to improve the taste. On the contrary, the acid tends to cover the natural taste of the fish that I enjoy so much.

What brand sells mackerel with bones-in skin-on and encased in water, salt free?

Wild Planet has a version of sardines like this that I really enjoy.

I didn’t hate it, but I found it somewhat bland.

I haven’t had a KO tin yet that compelled me to buy it again. More power to the people who can these fish, but holy hell, I’ve never had a good one. The mackerel tins in EVOO are probably the least offensive, but it’s still just ok. The sprats in EVOO are a mushy mess.

So funny how this is so divisive. First tried the lemon salmon and loved it. Then came across this while traveling and loved it more.

It’s so totally beyond my comprehension why anyone would ever buy skinless boneless tinned fish?
