As the heatwave continues, check your freezers if you’ve stocked up on popsicles.
Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream is voluntarily recalling select flavors off its Outshine frozen fruit bars due to the possibility they contain glass, the company announced in a news release Aug. 16.
Affected products include limited lots of 6-pack, 2.5-oz. boxes of Outshine’s strawberry, watermelon, grape, tangerine and black cherry flavors.
The popsicles were distributed to retailers nationwide, including South Carolina stores.
The company said in a press release that no other Outshine products or varieties were impacted — only those five flavors in those specific sizes were recalled “due to possible foreign material contamination with glass.”
“The safety, quality, and integrity of our products remain our highest priority,” Dreyer’s said in a statement Aug. 16. “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this action may cause our consumers and retail customers.”
As of Aug. 16, no illness or injuries had been reported, but Dreyer’s recommends that anyone concerned should contact a health care provider immediately.
Consumer who purchased the specific frozen fruit bars should dispose of the products or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
