It’s just a column of foam. Going to need to rappel down the side to find the espresso. Gotta love the commitment to make the drink even with only diner mugs available.

The real question is what comes out of you after this.
Also I find it is quite tiny size for US.

Yeah you often just get like…a latte.
Sometimes they’re pretty tasty tho, despite not being what you ordered! You never know. 🤷♀️

My best is when you order a Capp and they say “12 or 16oz, and any flavors?”
Nah I’m good fam.
Edit: also when you walk in and the milk being steamed sounds like the great eagles from LOTR self immolating.

Looks accurate for rural America

One time I visited Eureka Springs, Arkansas and ventured into the cutest little coffee shop. The owner and barista was super kind. I kinda gave her the steps for a long black (water first, half cup, then double shot pulled on top) and it tasted amazing.

Yeah it’s funny till you taste it and it’s as sweet as melted ice cream and it’s 7 bucks. Then I’m mad.

Not Forrest Gump: “Life is like ordering a cappuccino in America, you never what you’re gonna get.”

**RIPPPPPPPPPPPP* *RIPPPPP* *RIPPP* *RIPPPPPPPPPPPPP** of the steam wand.
“Oh yeah, this bad boy is going to be 93% thick foam and this “espresso” is about to taste like burnt mud.”

I’ve had this problem outside of rural America as well. I’ve also had delicious coffee in rural America.

I got a latte in downtown Atlanta that was so terrible (made by a clueless barista on an automatic machine) that i went to the next coffee shop over for a replacement latte that was even more terrible.
Rural ain’t got nothing to do with it lol.

It’s funny because the people wanted this…so then it became what it is in that area. huge foam…LOTS of sugar…large portions….AMERICA!

I love going to some place with iced coffee on the menu and thinking – safe bet – and watching the staff pour molten hot coffee from a pot directly onto ice and then looking extremely confused. I have even seen this after ordering cold brew.

Oh, the infamous 16oz cortado…
Keeps you going for days.

My dads side of the family is from a small town in NW Kansas, I was out to visit a few years back and hit the only coffee shop in town (shoutout Coffee, Tea and Me).
I get in and ask for a latte, they kind of look at me weird and ask what flavor. I look weird back and say…normal? They look at eachother and I should have just left but I needed coffee. I sit down and watch the operation. They are running off brand K-cups and adding non-dairy flavored creamers to order. I got vanilla.

I love following this subreddit just to see what douchebaggery comes out.
It’s just a vomit of consciousness. Going to need neck high waders to get thru that pile. Feel free to share your hometown favs so we can make fun of how it doesnt hold up to the platonic ideals either.

The beans were lightly roostered.
