GREENVILLE — Upstate dessert brand Mak & Cheesecakes has opened its third shop, this time at the Downtown Airport.
The new brick-and-mortar location, 301 Airport Road, had a soft opening Aug. 26 and will host its grand opening Aug. 29 beginning at noon.
The popular cheesecake restaurant started as a food cart, going to events and rented for parties. From there, founder Lisa Forbes expanded to its first brick-and-mortar location in Simpsonville, then opened another in Greenville at 401 Augusta St., across from Greenville Senior High.
The business is named for her son, who has autism and apondyloepiphyseal dysplasia, a type of dwarfism.
The grand opening on Aug. 29 will feature giveaways, including free cheesecake for a year for the first 10 in line, swag bags, and randomly selected winners for more free cheesecake.
The restaurant allows customers to build their own slices, choosing their base and various toppings. Whole cheesecakes can also be ordered with 24-hour notice.
Even though there are three current locations, the famous cheesecake cart can still be rented through their website.
The Downtown Airport location, 301 Airport Road Suite H, is open noon to 8:30 p.m. most days, noon to 9:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and is closed on Mondays.
