PALMYRA, Mo. (WGEM) – Northeast (NEMO) Knights of Columbus (K of C) Journey for Charity Tractor Cruise made a stop at Flower City Park in Palmyra, Missouri.
Mark Dowil, chairman for NEMO Knights of Columbus Journey for Charity Tractor Cruise, explained the tractor cruise is made of tractors from all over Northeast Missouri. He also explained participants get together with their tractors, line up and travel from Hannibal to Palmyra and on to Monroe City.
The tractor cruise also included ATVs and side-by-sides with Knights of Columbus banners, and were met with sightseers, photographers and a condiments vendor.
The tractors were lined up along the street next to Floral Hall of Flower City Park.
Dowil stated they collect donations of cash and food for local food banks.
“There’s five different ones. There’s five councils – so that’s Hannibal, Palmyra, Monroe City, Indian Creek – or some people call it Swinky – and then finally Shelbina. And those five councils split up and we give up to each one of their food banks, their local food banks. So, there’s five total food bank,” Dowil explained.

“A couple years ago, I attended one very similar to this down in Union, which is where I grew up, and decided to bring this up to Northeast Missouri since we’re are a farming community as well,” Dowil recalled. “And I’ve been very happy with the turn out and the community support. I know that the food banks can always use donations and there shouldn’t be anybody that goes hungry in this area of the country and it’s just been good to see the community rally behind us.”
