JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio — A new restaurant has opened in a familiar Steubenville location, with its owner aiming to offer what she calls a healthier alternative to fast food.

Build A Bite opened in late August and is now fully operational. The restaurant is located on Sinclair Avenue and offers a variety of options made with fresh ingredients.

Owner Jennifer Brown said the idea to open the restaurant became urgent after years of thinking about it.

“I woke up about a year ago and said, ‘I don’t like what I’m doing,’ and I’ve been talking about opening a restaurant for 20 years, and I thought now is the time to take the leap and do it,” Brown said. “So my premise is to bring back real food to the community and a healthy alternative to fast food. We use simple ingredients. We try to avoid soy.”

Brown said the community response has been encouraging during the restaurant’s first few weeks in operation, and she has plans to expand what the business offers, including an art gallery featuring local artists.

“The community has been really, really supportive online. They’re sharing all of my posts, which is great,” Brown said. “The location, people don’t really know yet, but I think we’re going to get there, and I’m really excited.”
