The Tiramisu World Cup put out a call for dessert judges from several countries to become arbiters of the best amateur tiramisu in the world. The Tiramisu World Cup is celebrating its 10th anniversary and the final round is held every year in Treviso, Italy. Competitors are non-professionals who are home bakers and not affiliated with any restaurant or dessert shop, according to the competition. The judges, like the competitors, can come from around the world.
Tiramisu, if you haven’t been lucky enough to try it already, is a traditional coffee dessert that originated in Italy, consisting of biscuits soaked in coffee and layered with cream. The name is derived from the Italian phrase “tirami su,” which translates to “pick me up.”

Competitors take part in the Tiramisu World Cup competition on Nov. 4, 2017, in Treviso.

As for the judging, the details are outlined on the competition’s website. Judges are responsible for more than just eating — they will also “check the integrity of the ingredients and competition equipment, ensure that competitors are correctly positioned at their competition stations and, in general, help ensure that the competition runs smoothly,” according to the application page.

The applications are not live yet, but will be available on Sept. 12 from 4 to 6 p.m. EST. The contests you would have to judge will take place Oct. 9 and 10 in Piazza Borsa, the town square of Treviso.
Judges must be at least 18 years old and will have to take a 15-question test based on the competition’s rules, found on its rules page. Judges won’t have to pay to judge but also won’t be paid, the competition says.
