Found in Whetstone, The French Market is a local fine food and wine shop. They sell all kinds of French produce including freshly baked pastries, cheese and charcuterie.

Opened in February 2021, the high street shop followed their successful deli in Tufnell Park. Ran by friends Alexandre, Amaury & Matthieu, The French Market allows them to share their culture and passion – especially French baking – with Londoners.

With French baking at their heart, the Whetstone shop houses its own on-site bakery ran by head baker Ludovic Fritz. Originally from Alsace, in the East of France, he offers up classic bakes from our neighbours across the channel as well as innovative treats – saving you from getting on the Eurostar for a decent croissant. You can expect the likes of sourdough loaves and brioche to Almond Pain aux Chocolat and fresh baguettes.

The French Market are also loved for their selection of fine wines. With the knowledge of a seasoned sommelier, you will be guided through their range of champagnes and wines from various French regions from Loire Valley to Provence and Corsica.

You can also find items like French jams, confit duck, foie gras and chocolates. The French Market offer an online shop for those unable to make it up to the North London store.

And it’s not just about shopping either – you can enjoy fresh sandwiches at the store. In sunnier weather, they open up a ‘terrace’ area where Londoners can enjoy freshly made baguettes in the sun. Their deli offerings will certainly make a change to your average meal deal lunch.

Incredible pastries and breads, would highly recommend their chocolate brioche and their flan. We’ve pretty much worked our way through everything they offer and everything has been amazing.”

Another says: “Wow , just wow. I went into this place by chance as I parked opposite it and thought I all have a look. And I ended up buying a lot of food. The quality of the baguette is exactly what you find in France the cured ham was better then any Spanish ham I have had. The butter was up there with the best I have had.” And one put: “The best baguettes in town in my opinion, never fails to impress. Amazing quality of french foods, pastries, cheese and wines!”
