Fans of Spanish cuisine and wine will welcome the debut of Barcelona Wine Bar, a new arrival now open in Montrose.
A chain concept with locations in states including Connecticut, Colorado, Florida, Georgia and Massachusetts (as well as one other Texas location in Dallas), has opened at 1731 Westheimer.
The 5,000-square-foot restaurant with a variety of seating options, in addition to a courtyard patio, takes its Spanish journey seriously. The wine offerings include 400 selections (available by bottle and glass) from the Mediterranean, Spain and Latin America. The tapas-focused food menu includes Spanish charcuterie and cheese selections, shared plates (olives, focaccia, roasted cauliflower, Spanish tortilla, grilled prawns, croquettes, anchovies, empanadas and meatballs) and larger entrees such as paella, whole branzino, and mixed parillada.
The kitchen is under the direction of executive chef Thomas Laczynski, who Houston diners will know from his work at Fig & Olive and Ouzo Bay.
In addition to the vast wine list, the restaurant will offer cocktails including sangrias and Spanish gin and tonics.
Barcelona Wine Bar is open Monday through Thursday 4 p.m. to midnight, Friday and Saturday 4 p.m. to 1 a.m., and Sunday 4 to 10 p.m.
