After five years on Bank Street, popular Stamford Italian eatery Quartiere has closed its doors.
“Quartiere was made special by the people who filled the tables, pulled up a seat at the bar, celebrated milestones with us and turned ordinary nights into ones we’ll remember,” a statement reads on the restaurant’s Instagram account. “We’ve had the privilege of being a small part of so many of your lives, and you’ve become a very big part of ours.”
Opening in downtown Stamford in 2021, Quartiere quickly made a name for itself with its homemade pasta, wood-fired pizzas and craft cocktails. At the end of July, the team behind Quartiere opened KIN Social in Stamford’s Harbor Point — a seasonal pop-up that offers globally inspired small plates and craft cocktails. Quartiere signed a long-term lease at 15 Harbor Point with Building and Land Technology (BLT), according to a news release.
“KIN Social remains fully operational at Harbor Point as a seasonal pop-up. We look forward to sharing more details on what’s next for the space in the future,” a spokesperson for Harbor Point told the Stamford Advocate.
However, the space at 51 Bank St. will not be unoccupied for much longer. Peruvian restaurant Fiesta on Main — located at 249 Main St. — will be moving into the restaurant space. Josseline Monzon, a shift leader at Fiesta on Main, said the restaurant will be moving at the end of the month with the aim to open in its new home on Oct. 1.
Fiesta on Main opened in 2017 as the joint venture of the second generation of the Rojas family, who founded the original Fiesta Restaurant, according to its website. Notable dishes served up at Fiesta on Main include lomo saltado, medio pollo a la brasa, ceviche and jalea especial. There is also Fiesta Westside, located at 1990 W Main St.
This marks the latest change in Stamford’s restaurant scene, which has seen a number of shakeups in recent months. Last month, Fortina Pizza announced that it would close its location in Stamford’s Harbor Point after a decade. The Crab Shell and Mexicue have also closed in the city.
