The 15th annual 31 Days of German Wine competition has been won by Le Vignoble, which runs combined wine bars and shops in Plymouth and Bristol.
Organiser Wines of Germany UK said 140 businesses took part in the campaign, which ran throughout July, hosting German wine masterclasses, in-store promotions, tasting sessions and social media activity.
Le Vignoble achieved sales growth of more than 400% on the back of new listings and customer-facing activity.
The team introduced 16 new wines, showcased the full range by the glass across both sites and supported the campaign with wine clubs, guided tastings and food pairings.
Maja Syska, manager at Le Vignoble in Bristol, said: “We champion German wines all year round, but it’s been a real treat to be able to extend our range over July. Seeing all our regular and new guests enjoying all kinds of German wines has been wonderful.”
Le Vignoble wins £1,000 towards new German wine listings.
The two runners-up in the competition win £500 each. They were The Grape Escape in Cheltenham and Fourth & Church in Hove.
The Grape Escape showcased 18 German wines and added 13 new listings, with wine flight and tasting activity increasing sales by 500% through the month.
Fourth & Church introduced 14 new listings and delivered weekly pairings, changing by-the-glass selections and two sold-out Riesling masterclasses. The activity helped generate a sales increase of more than 400%.
Wines of Germany UK managing director Nicky Forrest, said: “We’d like to thank all our participants for their enthusiasm and creativity in bringing these wines to consumers across the UK.
“It’s encouraging to see such strong engagement year after year, and we’re excited to build on this momentum as more drinkers discover Germany’s exceptional wine regions and styles.”
