Yes, I have had their sardines in water, olive oil, and chili varieties. This is a solid brand for good fish at a somewhat reasonable price, hasn’t failed me yet.
Yes! This brancd with the chili peppers is one of my regular cans!
I haven’t had the tomato tin, but have the others and they are a solid choice for $5-6. The founder, Bart van Olphen, has written a few cookbooks that also include good information on fishing and sustainability. Same goes for his YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/bartsfishtales
Not a huge fan personally
I like the sardines in olive oil with piri-piri. They’ve been consistently pretty good. The last tin in “spicy” tomato sauce I had wasn’t spicy in the least, and the ‘dines themselves were really dry in texture and slightly bitter.
I literally bought this same one last night and was planning on trying it today. I’m thinking I’ll make some pasta and throw it on there. Bummed to read that someone said it’s not spicy, I guess I’ll add my own spice.
Their sardines are out of Conservas A Poveira (Minerva, and at various times the white/private label home of Sardinha, Bela, Santa Amaro, Trader Joes, Tricana/Minor/Prato Do Mar, and Amazon among many others). They took over as the sardines brand at our Whole Foods for a while after Bela was phased out.
Just screams generic private/white label to me–uses the same cannery as most other US-focused start ups and offered the same olive oil, lemon, piri piri, tomato options as everyone else.
the regular olive oil version of these are my fav!
Sea Tales is a very good brand and I wish more stores stocked it.
