BUFFALO GAP, Texas — The 44th annual Chili Super Bowl and Brisket Cook-Off brought cooks, families, and volunteers together on Saturday at the Old Settlers Reunion Grounds, continuing a Labor Day weekend tradition that benefits the Ben Richey Boys Ranch & Family Program.

The fundraiser has raised more than $2.2 million for the Ben Richey Boys Ranch & Family Program since 1982, supporting efforts to help young men and families build stronger futures.
“We’re doing the Chili Super Bowl and Brisket Cook-Off, benefiting the Ben Richey Boys Ranch. Ever since the original board members created this event, we have raised just over $2.2 million for the Ben Richey Boys Ranch & Family Program,” volunteer and board member Adam Wester said. “We’ve been able to help countless boys and families.”
For competitors and longtime attendees, the event has become a family tradition (KTXS/Briannagh Dennehy).
Vendors also offered pizza, ice cream, lemonade, and dessert selections.
“We are selling chili out here from the world’s largest chili pot. We also have a very large auction with over 100 items,” Wester said. “We have a chili cook-off. We have judging. We have People’s Choice where people can buy tickets and sample each team’s food.”

For competitors and longtime attendees, the event has become a family tradition.
“This is my 12th year,” chili competitor Tyler Harman said. “For us, it’s about helping out the Ben Richey Boys Ranch. My in-laws have been cooking out here for over 30 years, so we’ve kind of just made it a tradition to come out every year and support the boys.”
The Chili Super Bowl and Brisket Cook-Off festivities will continue through Sunday.
