At Park Corner Brasserie, the modern British all-day dining room at London Hilton on Park Lane, Sundays mean one thing: a proper roast, carved table-side, in a dining room looking out over Hyde Park and Park Lane.

Running every week from 12:30pm to 10.00pm, the Sunday roast has become one of the restaurant’s signature draws, built around free-range, locally sourced meat and a vegetarian option that regulars order just as readily as the beef.

The roast menu runs to six choices, carved at the table: Scottish grass-fed sirloin of beef (£30.00), a whole free-range chicken serving two (£46.00), slow-roast leg of lamb (£28.00), grilled whole sea bream in a white wine sauce (£30.00), roasted cauliflower with onion jus for vegetarian and vegan guests (£18.00), and a changing roast of the day (£30.00).

Each comes with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and gravy, with further sides – including cauliflower cheese, Savoy cabbage and bacon, roast carrots and parsnips, tenderstem broccoli and triple-cooked chips – available to add from £7.00. The wider Sunday menu also runs to starters such as seared scallops and slow-cooked pork belly, and puddings including a trio of brûlée and matcha and strawberry mousse, for anyone making a full afternoon of it.

The kitchen is led by executive chef Jean-Didier Gouges – known as JD – who trained at the Ecole Hôtelière in Mauritius, studied classical French cuisine, and became the youngest chef in the country’s history to gain his Cordon Bleu qualification, aged 19. His approach favours local provenance and the best ingredients from the best local suppliers, a philosophy that runs through the Sunday roast as much as the rest of the menu. Wine is overseen by Rudina Arapi, Master of Wine, whose pairings are on hand for anyone looking to make a proper afternoon of it.

Set near the corner where Park Lane meets Hyde Park, Park Corner Brasserie positions its roast as a destination in its own right, encouraging guests to “bring the family, invite the friends, and pull up a chair.”
