An update on my Wilber cages for this season. Everything is still growing very well and as of today I'm at the same average yield per plant (about 23 lbs) that it took me until October 14 to reach last season. Plus, last season I didn't count cherries, some of which carry much less weight (especially Mexico Midget) so they're bringing down the average per plant.
About 360 lbs harvested so far, with maybe a month to go. I picked 124 lbs of slicers/paste/oxheart yesterday (harvest pictured). Letting the cherries load up some more before I pick them again.
We had a week of cool/wet weather, so that caused some splitting, but the weather looks like it may hold up fairly well for the next couple weeks to get things to the final stretch.
All plants except Black Krim have reached 7' and are topped where I can reach them (not so easy with the spastic cherries). Lower-third of the plants is pretty well picked, but there's still a lot of fruit in the middle tier, with significantly less/smaller fruit near the tops. We shall see how far things get until the first frost.
