I grew large cherry tomatoes last summer and they were good for everything. This year I grew slicer tomatoes and I’m missing the large cherries.
Black Cherry
sparky xsl for cherries(big tasty and interesting looking). Cherokee Carbon for slicers(taste like Cherokee purple but way more productive for me).
and since you didn’t ask. I’ll never again grow:
SuperSweet 100s(They always end up sickly for me) or Carolina Gold(Might as well be a store bought tomato, as far as taste goes) or any variety of currant/spoon(juice isn’t worth the squeeze).
Early Pick. It used to be (40 years ago?) Quick Pick, then First Lady but both of those were discontinued.
EP is a good size and the taste is what I love, tangy rather than sweet.
ETA: If I could grow a second variety it would be Husky Cherry. The taste is superior to Early Pick but it’s really hard to keep those cherry tomatoes in a BLT.
San Marzano
Any of the cherries. I can eat those everyday (usually do) and never get sick of them.
Cuor di Bue
We bought a plant called “Tasty Yellow”. It was the 1st year we had a garden and I didn’t save seeds, nor did I realize how hard it might be to buy the same the next year. We were buying from the heirloom area, but might have bought something else without realizing it. They were large, a great producer and the flavor was amazing. We have never found them again. When I search the name, it pulls up tons of “tasty” “yellow” tomatos but none with that specific name. I love the flavor of Cherokee Purple, but growing them are bit more hit and miss for me.
Celebrity all the way. They are probably the largest tomatoes that can be grown in a five gallon container. I’ve been growing them for about 15 years. We have a lot of deer around us so we are limited to growing in containers on an elevated deck.
Inciardi Paste. They might actually be the perfect tomato. Equally great for saucing and slicing. Superb flavor and a very strong producer.
Pineapple or Big Rainbow
Amish paste. Marinara sauce all the way!
I did some research and apparently the Legend tomato fits my criteria for the “one” tomato. 3-5ft high, open pollinated, medium large sized fruit and the productivity of Celebrity.

If I could actually get them to grow well: Carbon. If I had to stick with how my tomatoes currently perform: black cherry
Jaune Flamme. Rumored sungold parent but way more complex and delicious.
Big Momma Beefsteak. She’s a local variety from KY and is so hardy in my area due to unique disease patterns here. Also deliciously balanced in flavor with a classic vibe.

i tried geranium kiss this year and it was INSANE despite an extremely cold spring that never really transitioned into anything resembling summer.
i grew it in a 3 gallon pot in my SW facing sunroom, the growth habit was a very sturdy 4’ with gorgeous, thick green foliage and huge clusters of 2-3” toms. flavor is great for me (but i’m abused in my zone lmao). they’re awesome on salads, in sauces and the make the best fermented cherry bombs. more importantly, they have kept really well.
i also grew, stupice, sun gold, ida gold, sub arctic, indigo pear drops and black krim (i’m a masochist, okay) and geranium kiss is the front runner by a mile.

This was my first year growing Orange Wellington and I was impressed. Very productive despite the lousy weather this summer. Fruits are large and meaty without many seeds.

I have to say u love a very good sweet tomato so the sungold is a favorite for me. Would love a good large variety that is super sweet too.

Besides being unlike anything else in taste, every season I give out before they stop producing.
If I had perfect conditions , climate controlled greenhouse and no job to go to . Brandywine Pink Sudduth. My mom and neighbor grows some for me though. I get a taste every year .
Otherwise it’s Cherokee purple for me. One of the easiest heirlooms to grow , has some good disease resistance , always produces in my climate, and well it’s the flavor. I need it every single year.
