Business at Tazza Cafe, which sits just steps north of the massive staircase leading to the grand lobby of the performing arts venue, had been down since Trump took office for a second time in January 2025. In the early days of the president’s term, performers canceled shows, including another run of “Hamilton,” the blockbuster that packed the audience and generated dozens of reservations at Tazza’s tables for pretheater diners when it last played in Washington in 2022.
