NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. — The Mediterranean Festival brought together thousands of people for food, music and cultural celebration.
The 15th annual event was hosted by St. George Orthodox Church on Higby Road over the weekend.
Attendees enjoyed Lebanese and Greek food, live music, raffles and craft vendors during the two-day festival.
Organizers said the festival helps the community learn more about Mediterranean culture.
“We have such deep and long-standing traditions here. Our church goes all the way back to the old world and to the time of Christ himself. When we show people here our hospitality, it will sort of invite people to come and see what else we have to offer. I’ve had such good encounters with people over the past day who might otherwise not have spoken to me, because when do they ever see a priest out and about,” Father George Goodge of St. George Orthodox Church said.
A portion of the money raised will help the New Hartford Fire Department buy an automated external defibrillator and other life-saving equipment.
