McLaren Vale winery Chalk Hill Wines has appointed international wine executive Trent Fraser as Chief Executive Officer, bringing more than two decades of wine and luxury brand experience to the role.
Fraser will lead the next stage of development for the family-owned winery, with a focus on its wine portfolio, vineyards and cellar door destination.
He said the opportunity was about building on Chalk Hill’s existing strengths while introducing the winery to a broader audience.
“I am so excited to have the opportunity to help shape the next chapter at Chalk Hill Wines, to build on its exceptional vineyards, award-winning wines and spectacular destination,” Fraser said.
“My goal is ambitious and simple – to protect and enhance what makes Chalk Hill Wines so special, so that more people have the opportunity to experience our beautiful wines and share them with the people they care about.”
Chalk Hill Wines Managing Director Tom Harvey said Fraser’s international experience and understanding of the South Australian wine industry would support the winery’s future plans.
“Trent brings a rare combination of international wine and luxury brand experience, commercial leadership and a genuine passion for South Australian wine,” Harvey said.
“Our family has been involved in the wine sector for six generations. Despite the current headwinds, we are excited about the future and creating greater enthusiasm, relevance and connection with our wines.”
Fraser said the winery would also look at ways to strengthen the connection between its wines and the broader Chalk Hill experience.
“Great wine is not simply about what is in the bottle. It’s about how people feel when they discover it, and the memories they take away. We will be focusing on bringing together wine, food, events, culture and experience,” Fraser said.
