CINCINNATI (WXIX) – Quality over quantity seems to be the mantra for Over-the-Rhine’s latest restaurant, which is set to open its doors to the public Wednesday.
Bar Rosso, located at 1324 Vine St., is the latest offering from Crown Restaurant Group and features one dish, steak frites, and a bar menu centered on vermouth.
According to the restaurant group, house-made bread and a signature salad act as appetizers for the classic French dish.
The restaurant features an in-house butchery to ensure the freshest cuts and offers unlimited frites with the meal.
The bar highlights vermouth, using variations of the wine from around the world to elevate cocktails such as a Negroni and a Martini.
“With Bar Rosso, we’ve created an elegant experience without the fuss,” chef and co-owner Anthony Sitek said. “Our kitchen staff has worked hard to refine every detail of our menu. We’re going to give our guests a perfectly cooked steak, crispy fries, and an exquisite cocktail they’ll love every time.”
The group said that its team thrifted and handpicked items to give the restaurant its own personality.
“Our team has had a lot of fun (and some stress!) bringing Bar Rosso to life,” co-owner Haley Sitek said. “…we curated every last detail of this place, from the silverware to the seating down to how we cut our fries and mix our vermouth cocktails. We’re so excited to open our doors and welcome Cincinnati to what will surely become a new downtown staple.”
The location was previously home to the popular Italian-influenced Five on Vine, which closed its doors in May and was also owned by Crown Restaurant Group.
“Part of the heartbeat of CRG is innovation. We are always looking for new and different ways to elevate our offerings, and this sophisticated restaurant will do just that,” Anthony Sitek said following Five on Vine’s closure.
Bar Rosso will also feature a dedicated private dining room that seats up to 50, which can be booked for parties, gatherings and special occasions.
The restaurant will be open Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.
